Domestic Locksmith
Job Description –
A domestic locksmith, as stated in the title, primarily works on domestic sites direct with the end user (home owners, tenants, landlord etc.). This encompasses a variety of doors and locks like UPVC, Timber, Composite and Aluminium and possibly may included sheds, garages and greenhouses.
Main Areas of Responsibility –
- Providing simple quotations;
- Providing domestic property advice;
- Conducting lock installations/alterations;
- Key Cutting; and
- Problem solving any locking issues.
Commercial Locksmith
Job Description –
A commercial locksmith, as stated in the title, primarily works on commercial and industrial sites direct with clients (Shop Owners, Construction & Building firms, Facility Management firms etc.) This encompasses a variety of doors, mainly Timber, Aluminium, Steel and Fire doors.
Main Areas of Responsibility –
- Providing simple – complex quotations;
- Providing property advice;
- Conducting lock installations/alterations; and
- Problem solving any locking issues.
Emergency Locksmith
Job Description –
An emergency locksmith, as stated in the title, primarily works on domestic and industrial sites, either direct with the end users (home owners, tenants, landlords) or with contract clients (Police Forces or Warrant Companies). This encompasses a variety of doors and locks like UPVC, Timber, Composite and Aluminium and possibly may included sheds, garages and vehicles.
Main Areas of Responsibility –
- Force/Fast Entry to cars and properties;
- Providing security crime prevention advice;
- Conducting lock installations and lock repairs; and
- Solving any door, lock or window damage.
Automotive Locksmith
Job Description –
An automotive locksmith, as stated in the title, primarily works with vehicles either at secure locations, customer’s houses or by the roadside, either direct with the end users (owners) or with contract clients (AA, RAC, Car Sales Companies or insurance companies).
Main Areas of Responsibility –
- Fast Entry to cars;
- Key/Remote repairs;
- Spare Key Creation;
- Lost Key Creation;
- Replacing/Recoding Vehicle Locks;
- Key Cutting; and
- Providing security crime prevention advice.
Maintenance Engineer
Job Description –
A maintenance engineer usually has a variety of skills, for example, joinery, carpentry, engineering, building etc. The prime function of this role is to maintain the operation of all locks at the premises (i.e. hospital, school, construction site etc.)
Main Areas of Responsibility –
- Maintaining high standard of operation of locks;
- Key Cutting;
- Key Management;
- Conducting lock installations/alterations; and
- Problem solving any locking issues.
Security Advisor
Job Description –
A security advisor has a very important and professional role within the locksmith and security industry, this role usual involves being a key element in the design and installation plans of locks and security on properties.
Main Areas of Responsibility –
- Have good knowledge of government legislations and codes of practice;
- Have expert subject knowledge on products;
- Have expert subject knowledge on installation;
- Have expert subject knowledge on post-maintenance; and
- Advise on most effective and efficient system for the indented purpose.
Safe Engineer
Job Description –
A safe engineer, as stated in the title, primarily works with safe either at domestic or commercial sites and can your career all our the country or the world, as it is a very specific job role within the locksmith and security industry.
Main Areas of Responsibility –
- Gaining Entry;
- Safe Installations;
- Key Cutting;
- Lock Repairs; and
- Changing codes or key combinations.
Key Specialist
Job Description –
A key specialist, as stated in the title, primarily works with key blanks. A skilled key specialist should be able to create any sort of key from genuine or copy balnks and even in the cases of lost or snapped keys.
Main Areas of Responsibility –
- Key Cutting;
- Key Repairs; and
- Impressioning.
